h-left-crestHyde Leadership Charter School (Hyde-Bronx) is a college preparatory charter school that opened its first academic year in September 2006 with 193 kindergarten and sixth grade students in District 8, the Hunts Point section of the South Bronx and that currently serves 600 students in grades K, 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8 and 9. New entering classes of kindergarten and sixth grade students will be added each year until becoming a K-12 school with approximately 900 students. The Hyde-Bronx program is designed with the intention that all of its high school graduates will be accepted to 4-year colleges and be prepared for the intellectual and ethical challenges of college and life beyond. Hyde-Bronx is the fifth Hyde school, founded on Joseph Gauld’s premise that character development and active family involvement are essential components in teaching children to become responsible, ethical and successful human beings.
