Danny Peralta, Director of Arts and Education, The POINT CDC
Born to Dominican parents in New York City in the summer of 1978, Danny grew up in the Inwood section of Manhattan. Danny graduated from New York University with a BA in Social Studies Education in 2000. Since then, he has taught for the Department of Education and worked at several non-profit agencies serving the community through literacy, counseling, and the arts. Currently Danny is the Director of Arts and Education at THE POINT CDC, where he was recently selected into The Afterschool Alliance Ambassadors Program, a national afterschool advocacy organization.
Danny has been the recipient of the first ever ICP Jocelyne Benzakin Fellowship (awarded in the summer of 2005), the recipient of the Bronx Council of the Arts Bronx Recognizes It’s Own (BRIO) Awards in June 2007 and in the fall of 2007, he was awarded the Howard Chapnick Award during the Eugene Smith Award ceremony for The NYC Bridge Project. Danny’s community work and photography continues to be influenced by those around him and the opportunities mutually presented to one another.
