The 2009 Back to School Fair was held on Saturday, October 3, 2009. At 12:15, we held the ribbon cutting for our renovated office space at 889 Hunts Point Avenue, with special guests Heather Mills and emcee Majora Carter.
Directly afterward, and until 4:30, the Back to School Fair was held on Seneca Street, featuring give-aways and free food. Bascom Catering, El Torito de Oro, and the student chefs from JVL Wildcat Academy provided dishes and City Year fired up the grill for burgers, which were all part of the Heather Mills Food Donation.
Alliance Members came together to provide this day of fun for the community, which included performances by students from PS 48 and St. Ignatius School, fall gourd painting with Bronx Charter School for the Arts, hearing and vision screenings provided by Urban Health and information on all of our alliance members upcoming fall programming.
